About Winston Strong

On the afternoon of April 28, 2014, an EF4 tornado tore through the heart of Winston County and the City of Louisville, Ms. leaving a 35 mile path of destruction that leveled more than 300 homes and heavily damaging hundreds more.

Ten citizens lost their lives and hundreds lost their livelihood as the local hospital, the Winston Medical Center and a soon to be opened employer, Winston Plywood and Veneer were destroyed.

Yet immediately after the storm, our citizens began the recovery process with the assistance of countless volunteers, our local and state officials, MEMA and FEMA. Our journey down the road to rebuild our community has begun as we strive to make Winston County a better, safer and stronger place to live and raise our families.  We will always be “Winston Strong”.

Our community based “Winston Strong” recovery fund is to be used for longer term rebuilding efforts across the community.  A 501C3 non-profit, the fund is audited and properly administered with guidance from MEMA and FEMA.

The funds donated are intended to be used for local tornado victims after all other resources have been exhausted or not made available. Case managers will assist those in need through the process to use all available resources wisely and to rebuild our community.
